Smokin Joe's Things to do in Sydney Guide
Catch a ferry
Catch any ferry anywhere. It's a great way to see the harbour and you can take your bike on. One of my favourite's is catching one from circular quay to Watson bay, then its a short ride over to camp cove, a lovely quiet beach with city views, for a swim after that, go check out south head, its a massive cliff where the harbour meets the ocean, there is also a lot of world war 2 forts built into the rocks that you can explore. Maybe ride over to parsley bay on the way back, Return ferry is about $10 ish
Visit a bat colony
Ride or catch a train to Barwell Park, right next to the train line is a short bushwalk (not really suitable for riding) that takes you directly underneath and next to where a large bat colony lives. There is literally thousands of bats, There and back less than 30min walk, go at dusk and you can climb up the hill a bit and see them all take off $0
Go to the beach
Duh, Bondi is famous for a reason but just throw a dart at the map and aim for the coast $0
Sink Some tinnies (beers) next to the harbour
Barangaroo has a nice little swim spot that is popular with the local couriers, you can also find some nice spots in Pyrmont that look back over the city.
Catch a train to the Blue Mountains
This is more of a day trip as the train takes 2 hours but there are some good bushwalks, mountain bike trails and road rides you can do. The train is about $10-$15
